Smithfield is a town in Isle of Wight County, in the Hampton Roads region of the Commonwealth of Virginia. It has a population of approximately 8,100 and is 10 square miles in size. The Median Household Income is $43,224.

Smithfield offers residents a small-town atmosphere, in a community striving to preserve its southern charm. The town is most famous for the curing and production of the Smithfield ham.
